You Never Know What the Day Will Bring. . .

Just yesterday, I was saying to myself that it was about time for a good rain.  The sky was bright, no rain in sight.  Jeff and I had planned to teach the kids in the morning, but knew that we needed to leave for Wheatland by noon in order to be in time for Dave's funeral.  The drive was really nice.  I caught up on my YMN reading, and the kids worked on homework.  Imagine my surprise when I looked up from my reading long enough to see the sky was darkening.  We slipped into the church just in time for the service to start.  Dave would have been pleased, had he cared enough to watch the service from his new home in heaven.  The church was packed, and the spirit was good.  We were dismissed to head to the cemetary and all headed out quickly to the van.  Sure enough, the wind had kicked up and the sprinkles were starting.  The real rain didn't start until we arrived at the cemetary in Guernsey.  Perfect timing.  It was a very moving ceremony.  I just love the military honors, they give me chills each time.  As soon as the closing prayer was said, I scooted back to the car.  The rain was still falling steadily.  By the time we drove back to the church, the storm had moved past, and the sun was seen off to the west.  It was another pleasant ride home, but no reading this time.  My feet never did warm up, but it was a good day, a day to honor Dave.
